Give God All Thanksgiving

“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.” Psalms 75:1

I felt it appropriate at this time with Thanksgiving around the corner, to take time to really sit down and thank the Lord for all He does for us.  We can and should do this every day, and it shouldn’t be just regulated to certain holidays or even certain days….

So, talking with the Lord I felt compelled at this time to write down the little things I am thankful for, especially now with all these things happening around the world and not knowing what may come in the next few months.

All of us (around the world) are sitting on a balloon that could pop at any moment and we don’t know what may happen to us, our families, our friends….our neighbors.  People are struggling even now to pay bills….. to keep warm……to even buy food or find a job.

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37

It’s very important that right now at this moment….you find comfort in Jesus….for those of us that are saved we do have a comfort already…but this does not change the fact that we still worry or can become anxious about things that are happening.

(Even for saved people it’s easier said than done to give over to the Lord all our worries….some of us struggle mightily with anxiety and some fear of what is happening or is going to happen….it is important to talk with Him daily because we can find comfort even if for a little while…)

Remember God is not a Spirit of Fear……so know when these feelings come upon you, you are being demonically attacked.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

We all have struggles and family members that we see are struggling and we are limited in our resources to help.

The one thing we can do is pray….pray and thank God for all the things He does bless us with each and every day….Everyone’s blessings are different, depending on where they live, what they do for a living, what they have, etc……BUT, one thing is for certain….

IF you have Christ Jesus as your Savior…..you know that your God is greater than all these things…..

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

There are many things in our lives that we take for granted…..and some people don’t have some things available to them….like heat or air condition…..or even a bed…..some don’t even have power all the time and are only allowed to use it when told….

People take for granted hot water to take showers…while some have to bathe with icy cold water…

I do not say these things to make anyone feel bad for having such things and for those who don’t; Do not feel bad or not blessed because you don’t. It’s about God…and to count the blessings you do have.

Sometimes we can’t always see the blessings He bestows, because we can get caught up in living and wanting things of the world.  I know most of us have heard at some time or another to, ‘count your blessings,’ and I am a firm believer that sometimes you need to take time to just sit and really ponder and be in awe of all your blessings….all of the things that God in fact has given you…..because you/we are His.

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

When we take time to really start thinking about all the things we have and the things we would struggle without we began to realize the power and love God has in our lives.  Yet, the Lord still blesses us even when we don’t remember to thank Him.  He holds nothing back for His children and gives us things for His pleasure and while He wants us to thank Him and praise Him….just because we forget or may get caught up in the world He doesn’t hold that against us.

Not all of us will have the same things….have need of the same things….He knows what you need and the most important thing to Him is to bring you to Him….bring you closer to understanding and loving Him.

“The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.” Psalms 147:11

My Personal ‘Thank You Lord’ Letter

Dear Lord,

Thank you Lord, thank you for my family and friends, whom I can talk with about how great you are.  Thank you Lord for transportation that gets my family where we need to go whether it’s to the grocery store or to a doctor’s appointment, and anywhere else we may need to go.

“O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalms 118:1

Thank you Lord for my pets….that brings me comfort in their innocent animal selves and love unconditionally and makes me laugh at their antics.

Thank you Lord for a roof over my head to keep out the cold and the rain,….thank you for water to drink and to bathe with….Thank you Lord for a bed and pillow to lay my tired body and covers to keep me warm.

Thank you Lord, for electricity and gas in order to have power to work on my computer or laptop in order to spread your word and see what is going on in the world….without these things my world would be very limited and I am so very thankful for these things.

“O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.” Psalms 105:1

Thank you Lord for giving me the strength and resources to help others as best as I am able…..thank you for granting me the opportunities to spread your word and your glory to others in ways I never thought possible.

Thank you Lord for the food that that we are able to place on our table and your blessings over it, the clothes on my back and the shoes on my feet…… and the money that will pay our bills (for I know, you have miraculously always helped us when we needed it).

Thank you Lord for all the small conveniences that we have made necessities over the years; I know I don’t have as much as others and some don’t have as much as me….but if we all have you….that is enough….we are just too human to realize it.

“To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.  O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” Psalms 30:12

Thank you for all your mercy upon me, for you to show me and to help me overcome problems that seem so big to me, but for you they are such a small thing to handle.

Thank you for listening and hearing my prayers, complaints, worries, and cries. I am forever grateful that I am able to thank you and see the love you have for me…..and while I don’t always give you credit for all these things you bless me with everyday…..you know my heart and in my heart I am thankful for everything.

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:” Colossians 1:12

Most importantly, I thank you Lord for opening my eyes to the truth to who you are…… for opening my eyes to your saving grace so that I now can have a Savior and King in you and the best friend I have ever had in my life……….for teaching me wisdom and understanding in your ways;  for showing me that all things are in your control and to know the truth of why everything happens in this world.  Thank you for loving me and choosing me to be a part of your kingdom.

May you be glorified forever  for your Holiness and Majesty.

“Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalms 97:12

Your loving but flawed servant,

Stacy

The most important thing…….

Take a few moments and really look around you….no matter where you are or what you have…..see the Lord Jesus with you….all of these things we have are just things in the end….and are not needed where we are going…….

For we have a home and a kingdom where we will never need ‘things’ of comfort or to survive…. A home that far beyond our imagination and words….a place that all the pain you’ve had here will be gone.

Be thankful if you are saved….because your reward is Heaven.

“Now thanks by unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14

The most important thing to be thankful for is Jesus Christ…….He is the one who grants us the things to get by in the world…..He is the one who loved us enough to save us from ourselves……

In the end…..while we look at things in the world we like, want, and even need as a human….the one thing we all need the most is Jesus Christ as our Savior….because without Him…..WE HAVE NOTHING.

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:20

All glory and thanks be to God Always!
