Part 3 – Understanding the Gift of Faith
Starting this series I had a plan of going in the order of the gifts in the bible…..but the Lord had His own plan and put it on my heart to explain the gifts in the order HE wants….. (As I started putting all of this together I am starting to see the bigger picture) So to follow the Lord, I will be explaining the different types of faith that some are granted with instantaneously and some may have to grow into.
As always let’s start with the definition of Faith…..
What is the definition of faith?
“Complete trust or confidence in someone or something: strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof”
So let’s get started…….
1- Faith of Prayer
Some saved believers are gifted with the faith of prayer….these are typically what you would call (or hear called) prayer warriors. They have a gift when it comes to prayer and they believe all of their prayers will be answered.
There are many saved Christians who believe in prayer, but we don’t always trust that our prayers will be answered. The people with this gift never doubt, never waver, never question….. They have such a strong faith in their prayer; and to others it can feel a little intimidating….
One of the things I have learned over the years is that you can grow in your faith of prayer by praying and asking the Lord to grant you more faith in your own prayers…. But don’t feel bad that you don’t always place trust in your prayers to be answered…
This gift is usually instantaneous. You can learn and grow but it takes years before you can actually feel or know you have this gift.
2- Faith of Hearing
Some saved people are granted the gift of hearing as soon as they receive salvation….. What does this mean? It means no matter where they go, if they hear the Lord’s words they know if it’s truly of the Lord or not.
These people are blessed to never be led astray by someone’s teaching and they can always recognize false doctrines.
This Gift can also prevent falling for demonic lies whispered by demons and through other people… for they can hear the difference in their minds.
You can grow in this faith as you become closer to the LORD and study the Bible.
3- Faith of Healing
There are people who have absolute faith that they will be healed no matter their situation….this can co-inside with prayer sometimes….Sometimes this person can just say the Lord will heal me and He will. Sometimes it’s not even a thought of ‘Oh the Lord will heal me,’ it is just there inside of you…. A fine example of this faith is Paul when he gets bit by the snake……
“And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand…..And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.” Acts 28 3 &5
A lot of people (myself included) want to have faith like this, but because of life experiences and teachings and of course demonic influence…. prevents us from gaining this faith.
I don’t think if we (myself included) got bit by a snake today, we would have the faith that Paul had…..But I am sure that there are a few people that have this type of faith…..
(I want to be clear I am not talking about snake-handling churches, these people are tempting God by doing that and it does nothing to prove their faith)
I need to be clear, I am not talking about the Gift of healing; this is different and while it can go together with the faith of healing, the faith of healing to me is so much more than man can really understand….it is a completeness of faith in God.
This is not to say that if you don’t get healed you aren’t saved, good enough, or faithful enough. This gift is something that I believe God grants on particular people for His Glorification.
Some people have faith that God will heal them but never get healed and you must understand that the Gift of Faith of Healing is not just faith of healing for the physical, it also a faith of healing of the mental, and the spiritual.
This is another gift that some are granted instantly when they receive salvation and others, grow in it, and others struggle. To me I have found this is more profound to understand right now for many of us….
I do believe however, that you can grow in faith in trusting the Lord to help heal you if you ask….it may not be how you think though.
4- Faith of Salvation
This is the most basic gift of faith that I believe that every believer is granted….if you are saved…. You must believe in Jesus Christs sacrifice… (I am working on a blog for Understanding Faith and will go into this in more detail)
People with this gift of faith, have never struggled with their salvation, they have never doubted they were saved, and never questioned their salvation. This usually happens when you are first saved….how we love the Lord when we first get saved, but over time, the world creeps in…..
Too many of us have struggle here and there because of all the false teaching, doctrines, and the demon oppression of unworthiness and doubt. The only way to combat this and get back to our faith in our salvation is understanding the Lord, reading the bible, praying…..I no longer struggle with these doubts myself, because of my growth in the Lord, but it took me a long time to finally realize I wasn’t listening to the Holy Spirit but to the demonic spirits…..
“And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.” Luke 17:5
So when in doubt go to the Lord in prayer, then the bible…..the answers are there.
5- Faith of the Power of God
Last but certainly not least…. Is the gift of faith in the power of God…..this is the most precious gift of faith to me….because without knowing God’s power how can you have faith in anything else?
All of the gifts from the Holy Spirit are from the Power of God. All of your faith is granted to you by the Power of God….Your salvation was made by the Power of God…..For no mortal man could have done what He did on that cross….
This gift is giving your life and all things in it completely over to God and let Him have total control of all things….
I will be the first to tell you, I know the power of God, but have I placed my faith in it? At times yes, and it has always proven true and was always what I needed and was always helpful….however, because I am still growing in my own faith and learning more, I still struggle with letting everything go to God.
That is my journey…. For I want to put my complete trust in His power, but I am very human and always doubt, before He has to show me that His power is always stronger than anything else…. and yet since I am still growing, I still struggle…..But praise the Lord, I am gaining that faith and I know that all of His people are too; for we are seeing His words actually coming to life in front of our eyes every day.
Before we had faith in His word, to know what was to come, but now, we are seeing it and it is amazing…
What is your Gift of Faith and do you recognize it?
It is extremely sad that we have let the world dictate to us our gifts are nothing, not that special, that we don’t need them, or even have them……Don’t let the world take your gift of faith from you……they are so precious for they are gifts from God….however, I believe God has started showing us the way again and is starting to bring out more and more people who are growing in His gifts to glorify Him and be witnesses for others.
Every believer is granted a type of Faith that is stronger in them than others….But this should not make you feel ashamed, bad, or unworthy. You are your own precious person to God and He knows you….and you are exactly where He wants you to be in order to fulfill His will in your life.
Your Journey is not the same as someone else’s and it’s important to remember that….not all are called to be the same for the Lord. We each have different talents, different gifts, and different personalities.
Do not lose heart if you are struggling….because in your struggle you are growing…..
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:” Galatians 5:22
For the Glorification of God Always. May you be blessed by the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption and continue to grow in His wisdom.
